New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern earlier in the day went to Kilbirnie mosque in Wellington to lay flowers. People wept and grieved for the 50 people who died and those who were injured in the shootings, as families waited for authorities to formally identify victims and release their bodies for burial. Ardern said the Accident Compensation Corporation would provide families with a funeral grant of around $10,000. The death toll from the mosque terror attacks in Christchurch had risen to 50, New Zealand’s police commissioner confirmed earlier in the day.
